water testing April May 2014

In April and May, 2014 Lukas spent eight weeks traveling around Cambodia with FCOP (a Cambodian NGO)  staff testing water in orphan homes and installing locally produced filtration systems. Lukas tested drinking water taken from wells, city pipes, a river and even a pond. Each home has its own unique system, depending on the location and the resources available in the area. He tested for arsenic (this is a huge problem in a few areas), bacteria and other pollutions. Nearly all of the homes had poor to dangerous levels of bacteria contamination in the water. Based on the test results, Lukas was able to install the correct filters in each home that he visited, therefore improving the overall health of the children and staff.
